Grade A Class 3 hospital
Renji Hospital, founded in 1844, was the first Western medicine hospital established in Shanghai after the opening of the port. Currently comprised of four campuses (East, West, South, and North) and the Shanghai Cancer Research Institute, the hospital is a comprehensive, Class-A tertiary hospital offering a comprehensive range of medical services, teaching, and research. The hospital has been awarded the title of National Civilized Unit for four consecutive years and has received an A grade in the annual performance appraisal of the president of the Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center for 18 consecutive years. The East Campus, located in the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone in Pudong, opened in October 1999. The West Campus, located in the Huangpu Central Business District, is adjacent to the Bund. The South Campus, located in Pujiang Town, Minhang District, opened in December 2012 .
